Ace the 2026 Tennessee Barber Exam – Snip, Style, and Succeed!

When a barber observes signs of lice in a client's hair, the most appropriate and responsible action is to refuse service and recommend treatment. This option prioritizes the health and safety of both the client and other patrons in the barbershop.

By refusing service, the barber ensures that lice do not spread to other clients or staff. Lice are highly contagious, and if a barber were to continue with the grooming process, it could easily result in an outbreak among other clients. Additionally, recommending treatment provides the client with a clear course of action to address the issue effectively.

The option to provide a treatment plan might seem proactive, but barbers are not typically trained or authorized to diagnose or treat such conditions, which can create liability concerns. Ignoring the issue completely undermines the professional responsibility of the barber and puts others at risk. Scheduling a follow-up appointment also does not address the immediate concern and fails to resolve the problem effectively. Thus, refusing service while guiding the client towards proper treatment is the safest and most professional choice.
